Ilive DappaMann
The Okra and Snapperman
Ilive Nicholas Forrester, better known as recording artist ‘Ilive Dappamann’,was born on the 9th of April 1978 in Belmont, Westmoreland - Jamaica.
From a very young age Dappa Mann was inspired by local Jamaican DJs in his community like Hawk Eye, Diego G and Desmond Dessy Lickshot as well as some well-known DJs like Joesy Whales, Brigadier Jerry, Yellow Man and of course, his cousin, the legendary Peter Tosh, just to name a few. Later he was getting the chance to test his lyrical skills with the neighbourhood Soundsystem called "Hotta Fire Sound", he started to perform in his community and at other events island wide.
In 2001, Dappa Mann migrated to Germany where he continued his musical journey where he worked with various artists and performed at festivals in Berlin and other cities in Germany. According to Dappa Mann “It has been a tough journey so far as sometimes I’ve had some good experiences and at other times it’s really rough, but there is no great achievement without a struggle.” He describes music to be his passion and identifies it to be at the forefront of his life. He believes that there is no him without his music as it is his skin, flesh and bones, therefore, despite any shortcomings he may face, he continues to push forward and remain focused on his love for the art.
Dappa Mann describes his sound to be one of a kind through its uniqueness and its consistency which served him well throughout his performances with various artists such as Jah-Lingua, a Reggae artist and producer, Marcus N.R.G Vibes, a German Reggae/Reggaeton artist, Jah-Rose, a Reggae artist, Navigator, a Dub, Jungle and Reggae-Dancehall artist, Soultrain, a Dub, Jungle and Reggae-Dancehall artist, Jah-Ringo, a Gambian Reggae artist, Junior King, a Gambian Reggae artist and many more. He uses his music as a platform to showcase his experiences, skills and passion as well as spread his messages.
Dappa Mann has released a mixtape titled “On Tour” in 2012 as well as other singles including “Picnic”. Most recently he released a catchy single titled, “Teamwork” for If Entertainment Reggae Compilation dubbed the Unified Riddim in 2020. Dappa Mann’s unique style of music serves a growing catalogue and is available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube and all other digital platforms. In 2023 Dappa Mann founded the music label InI Music with the East-German artist Vivienne Shakur. They are currently working on several Singles and Compilations with artists like ZionHead, Emanuel Kadamawi, Cento-P and JA Boss.
